The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, is located on the western shore of world famous Dal Lake. The holy Hazratbal shrine is located on the northern side of the Institute. On its western side National Srinagar-Ladakh highway touches the western boundaries of the Institute. It is about 08 Km away from the Tourist Reception Centre. The Institute is well connected with most parts of the city by a dependable road transport service. Srinagar airport and the nearest Railway station (Jammu Tawi) are located about 20 Kms. and 300 Kms. away from the institute campus respectively. Srinagar is the summer city of J&K state. Srinagar is located in the heart of the Kashmir valley at an altitude of 1,730 m above sea level, spread on both sides of the river Jhelum. The Dal and Nagin lakes enhance its picturesque setting, while the changing play of the seasons and the salubrious climate ensures that the city is equally attractive to visitors around the year.
