The department of Metallurgical Engineering was established in the year 1963. It conducts an undergraduate academic
programme leading to the award of B.Tech.
Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Apart from teaching, the department is engaged in a wide range of
activities covering research and development, testing and consultancy, curricular and faculty development.
The department has adequate laboratory facilities to conduct experiments for the undergraduate students in various courses.
The department has qualified faculty and the expertise available includes disciplines VIZ. Foundry Tech., Materials Science, Corrosion
Engineering, Welding Technology, Physical Met. Ferrous and Non-ferrous Metallurgy, Non-destructive Testing and Evaluation etc. Prof. (Dr.) R. Ambardar is the
head of the Department
To widen the scope of the activities, the department is likely to be re-named as the Department of Metallurgical
and Materials Engineering.
